Background
Dr Fiona trained in the UK and spent the early part of her career in hospital General Medicine, particularly Gastroenterology & Cancer medicine.
After retraining as a GP, she worked in & co-owned a General Practice near Edinburgh in Scotland, braving the cold winds to cycle to work.
She has extended qualifications in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Family Planning and has a real interest in women’s & family health, especially Menopause transition.
Dr Fiona also worked as a Community Paediatrician within Edinburgh, diagnosing & treating children with special needs, such as Down syndrome, deafness, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, ASD, and Developmental issues.
After moving to Australia with her family over 10 years ago, she settled initially in Port Stephens and worked as a GP in Nelson Bay. When her teenage children were attending school in Newcastle, she relocated to Newie in 2022.
In addition to her usual General Practice, Fiona has been working for the last 5 years as a GP with a special interest in Gastroenterology at Beechnut Medical rooms, where she supports and treats patients with complex Gastrointestinal issues.
She has also been working at NuYu Medical Weight Loss Clinic, providing in-depth medical care for patients with metabolic issues related to Obesity and has been recognised by the Royal College of General Practitioners as having Extended skills in Obesity & Metabolic management.
When she is not working, she spends time with her family, walking with her border collies, and then relaxing back with a glass of red to plan the next big adventure.
