Dr Karyn Forbes

B.Med Rad Sci (RT), MBBS, FRACGP, DCH, National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health

I am a Specialist GP with over 12 years’ experience caring for patients in the Newcastle area. I completed my medical degree at Deakin University in Victoria in 2011, before returning home to Newcastle to begin my career in general practice.

I love the diversity that general practice offers and have a particular interest in caring for families across all stages of life. I hold additional qualifications including a Diploma of Child Health and a National Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health, including the provision of intrauterine device (IUD) services.

I am passionate about delivering patient-centred care, where people feel heard, informed, and supported. Building long-term relationships and providing continuity of care is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

When not consulting at Parry Street Family Practice, I run a specialised Women’s Health Clinic in Merewether, dedicated to menopause, reproductive health, and midlife care.

Outside of medicine, I am a busy mum of three who understands the importance of realistic, sustainable approaches to health and wellbeing. I enjoy staying active and make the most of being outdoors—often planning the next family adventure around Australia.
